H2020-ASSET is a 24-month Coordination and Support Action project financed by the European Commission under the H2020 Research and Innovation Programme in the topic of research, innovation and educational capacities for energy transition.
The project aims to create a community and to provide the tools to create and share the knowledge and skills needed to efficiently tackle the energy transition processes. ASSET´s goal is twofold:
1) To create a sustainable and scalable ecosystem (community) including all energy transition and education stakeholders:
- Companies from the energy sector
- Universities and training actors
- Authorities and policy makers
- Society
Communication among the members of the community is facilitated by the ASSET forum and the ASSET educational programme marketplace where individual professionals or companies can search, find or even place a request for any educational programme in the area of energy transition.
2) To deliver the framework and means for the continuous collaborative definition of the knowledge-competencies-skills required for the energy transition and for continuous resource pooling to efficiently educate/train large numbers of people in diverse and interdisciplinary topics and carry out research and innovation activities. In this course, ASSET defines a learning graph model and enables sharing of models as well as of learning materials through the Learning Graph tool which is open for use by any interested player.
In the lifetime of the project, the educational programmes are prepared by excellent universities like RWTH, AAU, UPV and UNIWA while emphasis is placed on the design of interdisciplinary courses and research. Associate Professor Helen C. Leligou is scientific coordinator of this project. It is also worth stressing that the UNIWA team is formed by professors from the following three departments of UNIWA: dept. of industrial design and production engineering, dept. of Electrical and electronic engineering, dept. of Information and Computer Engineering.
